OVERVIEW
The respiratory medicine department was started in 2011.We got permission to start postgraduate study in 2017.   
We strive to provide highest quality of training to undergraduate and postgraduate students. We provide higher quality of academic atmosphere in our department.                                                  We also provide high quality service to patients attending our department .Our department is running daily OPD and IPD for patients with TB&chest diseases. We have separate Male and Female ward,located at 7th floor at A block of sola civil hospital.We have facilities for management of drug resistance tuberculosis(MDR&XDR TB)in OPD and IPD.We have dedicated RICU(Respiratory intensive care unit) for management of patient with critical respiratory diseases.
The department has facilities of sputum microscopy and CBNAAT testing for diagnosis of tuberculosis; Basic & Advance spirometry(DLCO) for patient having obstructive and restrictive lung diseases; Pleural fluid aspiration and intercostal drainage tube insertion facilities for management of pleural effusion,hydrothorax,pneumothorax and empyema. Department also have facilities of bronchoscopy,thoracoscopy and sleep study.

IPD: Separate male &female ward( Total 40 beds),Doctor's room, Procedures room, Nursing staff     room, Store room. 

RICU:5 beds,Doctor room,Nursing staff room 

Broncoscopy &Thoracoscopy : At third floor, Surgical Operation Theater 

Others: Separate cabin for consultants, Department Library, Seminar Room, Clerk Room at 7th Floor

History taking, Clinical examination(General examination and systemic examination),vital monitoring, OPD management, indoor patient management, inhalation therapy, pleural fluid aspiraton, Intercostal drainage tube insertion(for empyema, pneumothorax and hydropneumothorax),chest x ray interpretation, CT thorax interpretation, pulmonary function test performance and analysis, Arterial blood gas analysis and interpretation, Basic bronchoscopy and medical thoracoscopy, Sleep study perfomance and analysis, Endotracheal tube insertion, Non invasive and invasive ventilatory management, and management of patients with critically ill respiratory disorders, Pulmonary rehabilitaion.
